¡Bienvenidos!
My research and writing focus is the New Mexico-Chihuahua border region around the turn of the twentieth century. Much of my work deals with the ways in which different types of violence have shaped the history of the transnational Lower Mimbres Valley--a physiographic region that straddles the international boundary and includes the towns of Deming, Columbus, Palomas, and La Ascensión.
This website contains a series of different elements of my research projects; a few will likely find their way into my book manuscript. I'm currently revising my dissertation for publication in the Connecting the Greater West series with Texas A & M University Press, edited by Sterling D. Evans. I'm still working out the title, but it will be something like "'Violence Didn't Arrive with Pancho Villa': Transnational Landscapes of Violence in New Mexico and Chihuahua."
Although this site is dedicated to my research efforts, my life centers on my family. My wife and I have three children. The photo here is of my and my boys at last year's Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. We love to spend time together working on home projects, playing outside, going on walks, and riding bikes. We also love reading together.
I'd love to hear any thoughts or that you have about my research interests and interpretations. I've added contact links below (I still haven't figured out how to add a comments section with Weebly's free version).
